We Are The Music We Make

As much as one would like to think that music stands on its own, the visual aspects that go into the whole music making process as well as the listening experience are undeniably powerful and iconic.
From album covers to the individuality that clothing and accessories allow us to express, being a musician often involves looking the part.
Sometimes I hear music and imagine what the player looks like.
Here’s a few of them.

Allow me to introduce to y’all the members of the band!

Jeff Denver’s lips on the Saxophone!

Although extremely brilliant, Jeff gets constantly and completely absorbed in his jazz lines; he’s known to get lost in the music to the point of not being able to stick to predetermined sections. Both a blessing and a curse to his fellow band members, he often wonders how one can solo over a ‘12 bar blues’, he simply solos ‘as long as he feels necessary’.

Elijah Boudreaux sliding on the Dobro!

His ideal habitat is his front porch. His favourite rhythmic section his foot.
But, when the opportunity presents itself and the paycheck is right, he lends his experienced hands to a gig here and there, as long as he can play on his favourite 18th century rocking chair.

Billy Cavanagh “always” in the pocket on the Upright!

Despite his blatant lack of rhythmic sensibility, his adamant determination and unlimited willingness to persevere allowed him to become somewhat proficient at his instrument of choice. He makes up for it with some genius melodic lines.

Tyrone “Gap Tooth T” Cormier takes us to church on the Rhodes!

From playing in his local church to recording keys on a Grammy nominated R&B record, smiling all the way up. He’s now taking singing lessons in order to achieve his lifelong dream of going solo.

Crooner.png

Colby Colombo crooning the way it used to be done!

From Broadway starchild to accomplished recording artist, rumor has it he still exercises 3 hours every day. Voice teachers all around NYC say his vibrato is one of the cleanest in the game.

Keith Garratt taking a quick break during Jeff’s solo.

He has played with a few legends, and you can smell it off him.
He never plays the wrong notes, he doesn’t even play all of the right ones.
He can’t stand show-offs.
He had a fistfight with Jeff Denver once. Or twice.
He never forgets to tip though.
